Oracle Internet File System (iFS) is a Java-based repository and development environment that acts like a file server. You can store and view many different types of files, traditionally stored on separate servers, in a single repository. Regardless of the protocol or application used to access iFS, you see the same folders and files whether you view files through your e-mail client, Windows Explorer, or your browser.
iFS provides these features:
Store the same file in multiple folders
Use file check-in and check-out for collaboration
Save multiple versions of a file for version control
Set up permissions for access control
Use sophisticated searching.
