Using Oracle9iAS Database Cache, you can store frequently updated database tables. Each table can have its own independent synchronization policy so that middle-tier resources are not wasted caching tables that are infrequently read, or synchronizing tables that are infrequently updated.

Oracle9iAS Database Cache can also connect to non-Oracle databases using gateways such as Oracle Transparent Gateway for DB2 (TG4DB2), so organizations can continue to use legacy databases.

With the new Oracle9iAS security architecture, the Single Sign-On server validates user credentials against an LDAP directory before requests are passed to the database cache, providing secure access regardless of the type of back-end database.
