Oracle9iAS Web Cache can be deployed on the same machine as your Web server, or in a distributed environment. For example, an organization might have all of its Web servers and databases located in the U.S. Formerly, the organization would have deployed mirror Web servers at each of its international branches to speed up access to its Web site. With Oracle9iAS Web Cache, a single Web Cache server can be installed at each branch location instead of a costly mirroring infrastructure. In this way, the local cache would serve all pages with cache hits, and would only request cache misses from the HTTP servers in the U.S.
