Oracle9iAS Web Cache accelerates static and dynamic content delivery. When placed in front of an HTTP server, Web Cache can return cached pages to clients, reducing the load on your back-end HTTP servers, application servers, and databases.

In a distributed environment, you can deploy Oracle9iAS Web Cache on machines at remote sites instead of deploying multiple HTTP servers. As a result, many requests can be handled locally by Web Cache, avoiding middle-tier and back-end processing, as well as slower throughput on WANs.

Oracle9iAS Web Cache also provides load balancing by distributing cache miss requests according to the relative capacity of each HTTP server.
