Introduction to the Oracle Certificate Authority Administrator Pages

Oracle Certificate Authority is a feature of Oracle9i Application Server that is used to issue, sign, and manage X.509 certificates. Certificates provide strong authentication, message integrity, message privacy, and nonrepudiation. Nonrepudiation means that if a user sends a message signed with her certificate's private key, and the certificate is not on a Certificate Revocation List (CRL), then she cannot deny (repudiate) sending the message.

You can perform the following functions using the administrative pages:

Configuration Management tab:

• Configure server settings for e-mail notifications and alerts

• Specify automatic CRL generation intervals

• Enable publishing certificates to an LDAP directory

• Enable logging and tracing

• Configure and manage policies

Certificate Management tab:

• Approve, reject, or revoke certificates

• Search for certificates and certificate requests using certificate serial numbers or more advanced search parameters

• Update Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL)
