Users benefit from Enterprise User Security by gaining the ease of use provided by single sign-on (SSO) or single password authentication, depending on the method of authentication chosen by the administrator. The following describes these benefits further:
Single Sign-On
Using single sign-on, users need to authenticate only once and subsequent authentications take place transparently. This functionality requires Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and should not be confused with OracleAS Single Sign-On, a component of Oracle Identity Management infrastructure.
Single Password Authentication
Single password authentication lets users authenticate to multiple databases with a single global password although each connection requires a unique authentication. The password is securely stored in Oracle Internet Directory and protected with security mechanisms that include encryption and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
