Deleting Predicates from Policy Rules

When you delete predicates from a policy, then the default parameters apply to all operations associated with that policy. Carefully consider the impact of deleting policy predicates before you act.

For example: Your default policy allows a minimum 512 bit key length because most of your users are located within your intranet. You have one group of users that are located outside your intranet, so you have added a predicate that requires a minimum 1024 bit key length for all requests that originate from that DN. If you remove this predicate, then the less rigorous security of the default 512 bit key length will apply to all of your users, which may compromise your security.

To delete predicates from policy rules:

  1. On the main Policy page of the Configuration Management tab, select the type of policy from which you want to delete a predicate in the View Policies For list. A list of policies for that operation type displays.

  2. Select the policy you want to modify by clicking the radio button adjacent to the Policy Name and click Edit. The Edit page appears, displaying the Parameter Details and the Predicate Details.

  3. In the Predicate Details region of the page, select the predicate that you want to delete and click Delete. A message appears at the top of the page confirming your deletion.

  4. Click OK to return to the main Policy page.

  5. Restart the Oracle Certificate Authority server for your changes to take effect. See Starting and Stopping Oracle Certificate Authority Server
